Question
1. A tank in the shape of an inverted right circular cone has height 6 meters and radius 2 meters. It is filled with 5 meters of hot chocolate. Find the work required to empty the tank by pumping the hot chocolate over the top of the tank. The density of hot chocolate is ?=1070 kg/m3. Your answer must include the correct units.
2. A circular swimming pool has a diameter of 20 m, the sides are 3 m high, and the depth of the water is 2.5 m. (The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s2 and the density of water is 1000 kg/m3.)
How much work (in Joules) is required to:
a) pump all of the water over the side
b)pump all of the water out of an outlet 1 m over the side
Any help you are able to provide me in how to solve these would be great. I have read through several examples but the answer I get never seems to be right. I feel like I am forgetting to include something simple I am sure. Thank you very much!
