1) The flat vs spike debate is basically discussing the differences in view points of group of people who advocate that the world is getting more and more globalised and thus advocate the world is greeting flag while those who are in the favour of spiky world say that it’s just the assumption of the elites who have various methods to connect, move and transfer men and information from one part of any continent to other. The theory that world is flat is lead by Thomas Friedman, who is the famous author of the book “The World is Flat” while the spiky points are taken by Professor Pankaj Ghemawat of the IESE Business School and the Harvard Business School.
2) Green house effect is phenomenon that is basically used for growing tropical plants in those places where we don’t have tropical climate. In this method glass structure is used inside which we grow tropical plants. Now this glass structure allows short wavelength waves to enter the transparent glass structure but when they interact with the surface and thus loose their energy they become long wave radiation and thus don’t penetrate that glass structure gets stuck inside the structure therefore heating it and providing the conditions suitable for tropical plants. Same phenomenon happens when our at most contains high concentration of carbon dioxide and methane ( two major green house gases) this also increases the earth’s temperature and causes the melting of ice poles. Countries that are developing are major contributors of these green house gases like China and India.
3) Maritime climate is the climate which is influenced by nearby water bodies which can be a sea, ocean or a lake. Due to this nearby water body the climate is not very varying throughout the year and they have cool summers, slightly warm winters and very favourable climate throughout the year while the continental climate don’t have any affect of such water body and thus they have cold winters, hot summer and extreme climate throughout the year.
