Some scientists have modeled the temperature by the linear function T = 0.01t + 8.4, where T is temperature in °C and t represents the number of years since 1900. Use the equation to predict the average global surface temperature in 2030.

t represents years since 1900 find T in 2030

t=2030-1990=130

T=0.0×130+8.4=21.4 c

1b ) To find the slope of line clearly ,if line goes through the point (380,336) and (780,416)

The slope of line is 416-336/780-380=1/5

Use point slope formula with point (380,336)

C-336=1/5(d-480)=d/5-96

c(d)=d/5-96+336=d/5+240

b) now use d=1200 miles then we get c(d)=c(1200)=1200/5+240=480

So we estimate that it will cost $480 to drive 1200miles per month.
