Question
Sustainable development is an approach that attempts to ensure that future generations are able to live full and productive lives. In your own words, define sustainability; then, suggest at least one (1) way that sustainability can be achieved. Next, describe at least one (1) factor that is necessary for sustainable development.
Think about two (2) questions about the natural world that the scientific method is unable to address, and then explain why you believe those questions can’t be addressed. In your response, be sure to provide examples that support your rationale.
Ecosystem boundaries are often difficult to define with precision. Describe one (1) characteristic and boundary of the ecosystem in which you live, with consideration of the following:
The location and productivity of the producers that support your ecosystem
The food web that supports your life
Debate whether or not you believe that the earth can support a human population of 8 to 10 billion sufficiently to provide a decent standard of living to them all. Why or why not? Next, in your own words specify what constitutes a decent standard of living to you; then, describe two (2) factors that you believe limit our ability to ensure those conditions for everybody.
Explanation / Answer
Sustainability is the idea of approach of preserving our natural resources and ecosystems, and not harming our environment rather than try to renew our resources than the amount we consume from it, for a better present and future generations. it literally means living within the natural resources of our planet without harming it. the biological balance should be maintained, because we live and breathe safely under this ecosystem and any harm caused to it, is a harm to mankind.
there are various ways by which sustainability could be achieved like:
1) we have to reduce waste, if it is done then we will demand less from this nature and also can minimise the pollution caused to air and ground(soil) and water.
2) Recycling is a very option for sustainable environment, it is somewhere linked to point 1 above. using the same product again and again without being asking from the nature.
3) planting more and cutting less, as plants provide oxygen and reduce pollution ,so it is the far most important task in today's generation.
4) moral values to kids and youth should be taught , for the reduction of wastes as the future is in their hands.
5) stop using carbon fuels to some extent if not completely possible and turn to solar and battery operated energy and vehicles respectively.
factor that is necessary for sustainable development is setting of goals and adaptability.
we have to set our goals what we want to achieve if we want to stop using harmful carbon fuels ,start using renewable energy, start recycling, using less natural resources and stop randomly clearing land for human settlement which is a natural habitat of plants and animals, we should be firm to our decision and adapt to discomfort we will face with less resources usage.
the population of the world is increasing but natural resources are limited every individual should be treated equaly, i.e he need a land to live food to survive, and other resources. to cope up with this we have take firm decision for a better future to come.
the two important questions of the natural world scientific methods are unable to address are the place on the earth where the gravity does not exists such as in Canada in a specific location there is negligible or zero gravity as compared to earth's gravity. science and scientific methods are unable to find the real reason behind it.
another example on earth is the bermuda triangle located in the atlantic ocean, its a mysterious triangle shaped region in the ocean where strong magnetic pull acts, whatever pass nearby is attracted and disappears forever, every scientific methods has been done with no clue what's the reason behind it. from decades it has been a mystery for the people and scientists many flights, jets ,ships, submarines etc went missing after it crossed nearby to this region.
