Question

120.00 100.00 80.00 60.00 40.00 20.00 0.00 time 1 (start) _ time 2 (end) 0.00 0.02 0.04 0.06 0.08 concentration of NacI (M) Figure 1. Mean time taken for solutions of NaCi to become transparent after rat blood was added to them; n-3. "time 1 (start)" indicates the elapsed time at the point transparency could be first detected; "time 2 (end)" indicates the elapsed time when the solution was fully transparent. Solutions above 0.08 M did not become transparent. Error bars are +1- 2 standard deviations. Notice how detailed the caption for the graph is all the information you need to fully interpret the data is included. Some commentary on the highlighted portions of the caption: mean: how the data were summarized; i.e., each point on the graph represents the average of the contributing replicates solutions of NaCI: pure NaCl solutions (rather than, for instance, solutions with multiple solutes in which only the concentration of NaCl varied) . rat blood: whole blood and its source n-3: the number of values contributing to each mean "time 1(start)"... and "time 2 (start)"... explains the labels used to identify each data series . Solutions above 0.08 M.: shows that solutions other than those identified on the x-axis of the graph were used, but no data were collected from them Error bars specifies how variability is expressed (common options include one or two standard deviations or 95% confidence intervals)

Explanation / Answer

1) The line graph of time to transparency showed an increasing trend with respect to time. It showed a gradual increase till 0.05 M of NaCl after which it shows a steep increase till 0.08 M NaCl concentration.
