Explanation / Answer

All cells in the body need to coordinate with at least few types of other cells to produce their activities. Specifically, the blood cells and nerve cells will coordinate with all other cells in the body to make them active. The blood and the nerve supply makes the cell to survive, collect food, dispose of waste and grow or divide. The signals carried by these systems to any cell of the body and coordinate them as a whole according to the external environment. There are four types of signals found in multicellular organisms. Autocrine: the signal produced by a cell target the same cell to respond. Paracrine: cell signals between close proximity. Jextcrine: the signal produced by a neighbour with direct contact to the other. Endocrine: The cell signal which may be dissolved and able to transport to the target through in bloodstream.

Cells need to respond to chemical and mechanical signals. The chemical signals may be hormones, neurotransmitters and growth factors and extracellular matrix compounds. The mechanical signals can be received by skin cells (by touch) or ear cells due to the ever-changing external environment. The nerve cells sole responsibility is to carry signals from all originals to the central nervous system and central nervous system to other parts of the body.
