According to a recent study, about one million deaths a year in the United States could be prevented if people adopted a healthier lifestyle. Tobacco, lack of exercise, and a high-fat diet probably cost the nation over $200 billion per year in health-care costs. Many companies are going to extreme lengths to reduce medical care costs. E.A. Miller, a meatpacking entity of ConAgra in Hyrum, Utah, charges extra for medical coverage of employees who smoke. Other companies give hundreds of dollars in extra benefits, such as extra vacation days, to their employees if they get good scores on their medical exams. Turner Broadcasting System in Atlanta has a policy that affects all employees hired after 1986. They will be fired if caught smoking-whether at work or at home. What steps do you think are ethical to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle without restricting freedom. Conduct some research from reliable scientific sources to back up your views and cite your sources.

According to albert alemanno, people do not always act in way that maximize their interests, making decisions. Gentle nudge approch is ethical that involve encouragement of individual to make better decision while maintaing their freedom of choice. For example presenting food in cafeteria so that people choose salad, fruit and vegetables rather than food with poor nutritional quality . Instead of forced people, it is ethical to implement gentle approches such as educate them via public campaigns or by increase taxes. So instead of manipulating people , we have to transparently present the senerio to them so that they can make their own choices.
