Leveraging your information literacy skills can provide an advantage to you in a job interview - you benefit if an employer can tell you are well-versed in seeking out information effectively and using it to your advantage.

So how might you do this? Explain one way in which you could make your superior information literacy skills evident in job interview. What examples could you use? How can you make clear the advantage hiring you would provide the employer?

Respond to a student post:

I am an education major. Before the interview, I would conduct research about the school, such as how long they have been in operation, how many students there are and the ratio of students to teachers. I would also browse the website to find out the qualifications for the position. I would also like to know how long the current teachers have been employed there and their educational backgrounds. I would ask questions around the community and among friends to get information about both positive and negative experiences. I would research as to whether or not the school is accredited. At the interview I would apply all that I had researched, ask questions, exhibit my communication skills and provide my professional portfolio. I would provide references and display confidence about my credentials, share my experiences and demonstrate a friendly and positive attitude.
