Question
Learning Plan for BSAM Internship Experience: Barbershop Internship
** BE VERY SPECIFIC. I want to see very focused SMART goals…specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and with specific time periods.
An example: If you were going to set a sales objective for your sales manager you wouldn’t just put…”improve sales growth…”. You could put “increase product X sales in Y territory by 5% each fiscal quarter.
For more information: This internship most follow a "Learning plan" – Using the learning plan form/document consider these comments below;
a. Use measurable “action” verbs: List, Compare/Contrast, Explain, Outline, etc., that reflect a SMART objective (specific, measurable, etc.). If you want to learn how to use data to prioritize in making decisions (as in an Accounts Receivable report that prioritizing communication to late accounts) then your learning objective might state “…to be able to explain how data collected from AR can be categorized and analyzed to make better collection decisions (letter, e-mail, call, collection agency, etc.)…”
b. Connect your learning objectives directly to your internship activities…the objectives link to actions that link to measures (on learning plan)…and all should be in sync with your project description. The actions should be connected to the objective (design spread sheet to categorize AR by account, amount owed, time beyond 15 days, # of times late past 2 years, etc. and link to Collection decisions/actions)…and each action should be found in your project description. Then be very clear about how you, your intern partner, and BSAM faculty supervisor can measure your progress and effectiveness when your work is completed (i.e. spreadsheet constructed that provides the following analysis…)
