Question

Activity 12.3: Case study- The Painful Limb (12 pts) Irene, an older woman, has been distraught over the recent death of her husband of 45 years. She comes to her doctor complaining of a line of painful blisters on her upper left back and down the middle of her posterior left arm. She tells the doctor it feels as though the area is on fire. She denies exposure to excessive heat sources, changes in her diet or using new types of body soap, lotions or laundry detergent The doctor suspects she may be suffering from a particular viral infection, and asks if she has ever had the chicken pox. She says she had a terrible case as a child. The doctor then tells her she likely is suffering from shingles (herpes zoster) due to varicella-zoster virus infection. This is the same virus responsible for chicken pox.
