The United States is the fattest country in the world. According to the National Institutes of Health, 35.7% of Americans are obese with 1 out of 20 people extremely obese. Obesity is one of the underlying causes of disease in this country. States, such as Arkansas and West Virginia, with low household incomes are the most obese States.
1. Why do you think this is so? What do you think can be done to solve this problem? Should we pay people to stay fit? Should we have a "fat tax" on high calorie foods? Should health plans provide free gym memberships and/or nutrition counseling?

This is the case in US because the life has become very fast and competitive over there and people like to cope up with that life and In order to do that they depend on fast food as they have less time. Fast food have unhealthy fats in then and because of over consumption of these foods obese people number have increased. We can give nutritional counciling in order to educate people about the fitness and nutrition and the gym membership should not be free as people will start taking it granted as they are getting it for free
