1. The sexual organs of bryophytes are antheridia (male) and archegonia (female). The antheridia produce flagellated sperms which need water to swim towards the antheridia and to fertilize the egg produced there. This is why water must be present for the bryophytes to complete the sexual portion of their life cycle.
