Metric ruler PROCEDURE The Recorder begins by gently touching the back of the Subject's hand while the two points of the compass are together. NOTE: It is important that the Subject truthfully identify those trials when two points were clearly felt. If there is a question about whether it was one or two points, then the Subject probably felt only one. 3. Area of skin with the greatest accuracy in tactile discrimination
Area of skin is largely related to the accuracy of the area to identify two different points distinctly. This idea is referred to as the two point discrimination. The two point discrimination is the property of an area of the skin where they could identify that the two points are different and not one. This examines the manner in which the area of a skin is innervsted. This method is used for testing the tactile perception of a person. When an area would be having greater number of sensory neurons, there would be a larger brain area that is dedicated in receiving the signals from that point, defining its sensitivity. As a result, hands are known to be more sensitive than the back or the legs of a person , and that is because of the increased sensory neurons.
