This section is primate features What defines primates as a taxonomic order is a list of physical features that are the result of a recent common ancestry. For this discussion board I would like you to share your favorite primate adaptation with the rest of the class. Tell us why you think that adaptation is great and briefly tell us how primate life would be different without that trait. Also, your chosen features does not have to be at at the level of taxonomic order. For example, you can talk about hominoidea which are at the superfamily level and discuss the absence of a tail. Explanation / Answer

Humans share many traits with the macques such as Barbary macques which are excellent vision and great dexterity.All of us are primates and we all hear it from time to time.

Humans share more of DNA with lemurs, monkeys and apes comparing to other mammals.

Hominoidea includes the great apes which is the orangutan,gorilla and chimpanzees as wrll as human being.

Tails are multifunctional in various animals and they are used for various reasons.Even human do have tail,not exactly a tail but a tailbone which is called as coccyx.Then why did we loose our tail?

Tails in mammals were mainly used for balance and as we have become upright and have adopted a more sophisticated methods for balance like urticle and sacule in our ears,hence the use of tail is reduced.
