Internship Summary
Currently I’m completing a Bachelor’s degree in Science at New York City College of Technology (CUNY). This semester I had an opportunity to have an internship at Delta Accounting Corp. The company specializes in the Small and Medium sized (SME) market and many of their clients come from media, film, entertainment, legal, professional services, property and retail industries.
Company services include: Audit, tax consulting (including personal and corporate income taxes preparation) and Investigations, book-keeping and company secretarial advice. This is combined with specialized services in corporate finance, personal financial management and human resources.
For this internship opportunity, I thank:
Yuriy Prokhorov, who is the CEO of Delta Accounting and my job coach. I want to thank him for giving me the opportunity to follow my internship at his company. He had the kindness to accept me in his company and guide me through my internship with advice, feedback and tips despite his busy schedule. Professor Benakli , who is my schools internship coach. She helped and coached me during my internship by giving me feedback and tips on how to handle and approach situations. She had always time to answer all my questions concerning my internship.
Also I appreciated all the interns I worked with and spent good moments with during my internship. I want to thank Davy Duong and Jessica Kim.
During my internship at Delta Accounting, I have worked on multiple tasks, projects and activities. My internship was held during the busiest time for accounting firms, which was tax preparation. It gave me great opportunity to learn programs such as H&R Block, Quick Book and My Invoice. I was able to work on some personal and corporate income taxes. Also I was given a project work on some companies at all stages of their development, from promising start-ups to established, successful organizations seeking to maximize their value through further investment or eventual sale. These include deep analyzing of data and research of markets.
My internship helped me develop necessary skills and improve my knowledge base, and it has assured me that I chose the right field of study. I learned more in three months than I ever thought possible. I found that nobody expects you to know everything and that mistakes can be tolerated if learned from. The experience has given me confidence in myself that was severely lacking beforehand. Overall, I rate my internship as the best thing that has happened to me professionally.
