Explanation / Answer

Ans1) Ordered dose: Cortisone 0.05 g PO QID so 0.05g per oral 4times/day

We have Cortisone 25mg scored tablets

As, 1 mg = 0.001g

So, conversion: 25 mg= 0.01× 25= 0.025g

Therefore, In order to administer 0.05g i.e one dose we will have to administer: 0.025×2= 0.05g i.e 2 tablets

As we have to administer 0.05g dose QID therefore, 2×4=

8 tablets in 24 hours.

Ans2)Ordered dose: Nembutal 90mg PO bedtime

Available dose: Nembutal 60mg

So, dose to be administer at bedtime (10pm) : 90/60= 1.5 tablets.

Ans3) Ordered dose: Digoxin 0.125mg

Available ampule shows 0.5mg/2ml means 1 ml contains 0.25mg and 0.5ml contains 0.125mg dose as per order.

Ans4) Ordered dose: Kaon elixir 15mEq to be given twice a day

Available dose: 20mEq/15ml

So, in order to administer 15mEq dose:

20mEq= 15ml

So, 15mEq= xml ( let x ml be the amount to administer 15mEq dose)

Therefore, xml= 15×15/20= 11.25ml

So, as per order 11.25ml is required for 15mEq dose and should be admitted two times in a day that means total 30 meq dose/day.( 11.25×2= 22.5ml)
