Economic arguments can be made for and against environmental sustainability initiatives. The preservation of diverse biological systems, need to remain productive over time thus dealing with pollution or resource depletion issue’s. Economic arguments can be made for and against social sustainability initiatives which involves maintaining societies’ long term well-being. It consists of either economic or population issues. Environmental and Social sustainability are interconnected. The simplest form of personal choices that anyone can make is to recycle (cardboard, mail, aluminum cans versus steel, plastics). This has become more of the norm both for environmental or social sustainability.

Explanation / Answer

Economic arguments are not just based on enviornmental sustainability issues that are against for it . they are meant to discuss pros and cons of degradation and their impact on society. We as citizen can protect such issues in a subjective manner , some may like to contribute by taking cautious steps and protect the nature while others may not feel then need to do so. Economic arguments are based on how people use resources in the best possible way , consider mostly we take it for granted which mean over utilisation , such problems means we are depleting our resources which will affect the availabiltiy for the future needs. Pollution issues like externality is a social welfare problem like rights to use , availabiltiy , cost of usage etc. The preservation needs to be productive to ensure we give back to the enviornment in best possible way , use of resource in a recyclable way , preserving the ones that are limited in nature , penalties on over utilisation and to harm the enviornment should be some of the economic policy decisions.
