Question

There has been criticism in recent years that the United States is too complimentary to our children, students, employees and colleagues. We have a culture where students are told that “as long as they try their best” that is all that matters and we reward grades of Cs with ice cream sundaes. In most competitions we have second, third and fourth place “winners” and we have corporations where almost everyone’s title is Manager or Vice President. Do you think this type of attitude motivates people properly and creates success? Or do you think a harsher tone produces better results? Why? (Please Write An Orginal Answer)

Explanation / Answer

In spite of the current keenness for wellness drives like meditation/ mindfulness at the workplace, & in spite of the drive towards more horizontal organizational structures, most persons still presume that the conventional paradigm is safer-remain firm &   slightly distant from your staff. The personnel who are functioning under you should respect you, yet not become so overfriendly with you that they don’t remember who is in-charge

‘Tough’ managers usually mistakenly believe that putting pressure on staff will augment performance. What it really does augment is the stress—& studies have revealed that increased levels of stress bring several costs to the employees & to the employers alike. Stress carries high medical care & turnover expenses.

A research reveals that when leaders are fair to the their team members, then the members exhibit greater citizenship behaviour & are even more productive ( both as a team & individually). And most of the study indicates that a compassionate place of work promotes engagement not so much via materialistic goods as thru the qualities of the corporate leaders, like a genuine commitment to the ethics/ values, self-sacrifice ,honest interpersonal kindness .
