As a manager at Acme Manufacturing, Pat arranged for John Mellancamp to speak to his staff about sales productivity in late August. John's presentation was to be a key element in a sales conference for Acme sales staff. Pat goal was that John could "fire up" or "motivate" his staff to perform at higher levels.
As it turned out, John's presentation fell flat. It was not inspiring. Rather, John took time to speak about his new company, and its products, but did little to inspire the staff.
Pat wonders what went wrong. Why did John not speak to the issues he wanted him to speak on? Using the basic model of communication, identify and explain three reasons why from a communications perspective that the outcome was not as intended. Please number your three items.

Intended Outcomes
A great deal of Communication seeks understanding as the intended outcome . As we gain greater understanding of human communication we are able to develop more sophisticated theories to help us understand how and why people communicate. One example that the communication to understand how they use language to define and enact their professional responsibilities.
A second intended outcome of Communication research is prediction and control. Ideas of prediction and control are taken. Many Communication researchers want to use the results of their research to predict and control communication in certain contexts.
A third intended outcome of Communication is positive critical/cultural change in the world. As humans, we have particular goals in mind. Having an understanding of what we want to accomplish to achieve intended outcomes.
