Question
Is the death penalty (a.k.a. capital punishment) a barbaric, inhumane, uncivilized and morally wrong act? Should the United States do away with this punishment and thus no longer be associated with likes of China, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Many people view the death penalty as "cruel and unusual punishment" which does not respect human dignity and reason. Interestingly, as the number of executions rise around the world, more countries are abolishing its use? What do you think? links to support

Explanation / Answer
I think death penalty is never a good punishment. It may induce fear in the people who do crimes and people may be afraid to reapeat. But, If the goverment issues death penalty to a murderer, what is the difference between murderer and government, both have killed persons.
The governement should try to try to change the mindset of the person and issue 14 years of sentense instead of death penalty. In India also dealth penalty is banned in most of the cases and they follow this.
