It is only one question but has some parts

Instructions Write your answers on the map where indicated. You may use your notes and the textbook. Read the newspaper account of this volcano's eruption history. On the diagram, put the eruption events in order from first to last: Lava dome growth begins Lava dome collapse and pyroclastic flows Steam eruptions Lahars Plinian eruption Small earthquakes accompanied with sulfuric fumaroles (gas emissions) What type of volcano is Juanannita volcano? What type of plate boundary was most likely responsible for creating this volcano? Label the parts of the volcano on the diagram. Crater Volcanic dome Rock Identification: Label the rocks 1, 2, & 3 with the proper rock types Dacite Old pyroclastic flow deposits Young pyroclastic flow deposits Identify the area you consider to be the safest place to live with an X on the map. When choosing between two sites that are equally safe, you may consider other factors, such as the scenery and topography, and whether they are subject to storms, landslides, floods, and other natural hazards. Write a statement that supports your choice of the safest place to live.

Explanation / Answer

A) Steam, small earthquakes associated with sulfurous fumaroles, plinian eruption, lahars, lava dome growth, lava dome collapses and pyroclastic flows.

B) Stratovolcano

C) Convergent plate boundary

D) The crater is the oval depression at the top of the volcano and the dome is in the centre of the crater from where the smoke is emerging.

E) Rock 1 is young pyroclastic flow deposit, Rock 2 is dacite, Rock 3 is old pyroclastic flow deposit.

F) The safest place to live would be the far north of the island, just north of the rock plateaus(rock1 and the adjacent rock).

G) The direction of flow of the lava seems to be southward so in general the north seems like a safer place. The rock plateaus will also protect settlements from lava if it flows towards that direction. It is also the furthest point from the volcano and the amount of ash fall will be less and some region will also fall in the shadow of the plateaus and will be safe from ash fall.
