Question
You are in charge of managing the old growth normal state forest. You have 1000 acres of trees and a fire has burned 100 of them. You need to earn enough money to maintain the forest and pay your salary. You have 15 trees per acre, each live tree sells for $300 and burned trees for $50. You also have deer and can sell special use hunting permits for use at $50 each per year. Your forest backs up to a small lake and you can also charge a fishing acess fee of $25 per year also. Trees have to grow for 40 years to be harvested. So anything you plant will be unharvested for 40 years. Tree seedlings cost $1 each. How would you manage your forest for the next 50 years?
Explanation / Answer
total Acres of trees are 1000 acres
fire burned trees =100 acres so 1000-100 =9900
1 acre = 15 trees so
1000 acres = 15000 trees
out of 15000 burned trees are 100*15 = 1500 trees are burned
live trees gives 300 dollars and burned trees gives 50 dollars
trees harvests for 40 years
for every year 100 acres of trees are planted so that every year plants will be harvested. And at the acres of burned area each year 10 acres of land is planted by trees. So that money can be managed properly.
