When the salt such as NaCl dissolves in a solvent such as water, the positively charged ions are attracted by the negative part of water molecules and positive ions are attracted by the negative part of water molecules.

The electric charge of the water molecules is strong enough to break the intramolecular bonds of the salt molecule and split it into individual ions.

When the solution is agitated or stirred , the solubility of the salt increases and it dissolves faster , as the mechanical energy enables the breaking of bonds faster.
