(a) If a sample of gold with a mass of 1.475 g, is pressed into a leaf of 8.695 ?m thickness, what is the area of the leaf? (b) If, instead, the gold is drawn out into a cylindrical fiber of radius 2.300 ?m, what is the length of the fiber?
Please dont copy and paste from yahoo answers, I've looked around for this answer and have typed it in on google as well, I'm posting it here seeking explanation and details please help, thank you
Explanation / Answer
Volume of gold = mass/density = 1.475/19.32 = 0.07634 cm3 = 0.07634 x 10-6 m3
(a) Thickness = 8.695
