What is that density in pounds per cubic inch? (1 in = 2.54 cm, l lb = 454 g) Select one: O a. 849 lb in O b. 491 lb in O c. 1.83 10-3 lb in O d. 376 lb in3 0 e. 0.491 lbin3 b and WindowsExplanation / Answer
Given
Density of mercury = 13.6 gm/cm3
Also 1 Ib = 454 gm
Also we have 1 inch = 2.54 cm i.e.convert it into inch cube (in3) = (2.54)3cm3
1 in3 =16.387 cm3
Now calculate 1 pound per cubic inch = 454 gm/16.387 cm3 =27.70489 gm/cm3
density at 1 Ib/in3 = 27.70489 gm/cm3
we have given density of mercury is 13.6 gm/cm3 so devide this value to convert into pound per cubic inch (Ib/in3 )
pound per cubic inch = 13.6 gm/cm3 / 27.70489 gm/cm3
so density of mercury in pound per cubic inch (Ib/in3 ) =0.49088 Ib/in3
so option e are correct
