HANDWRITING IS OKAY AS LONG AS IT IS READABLE.

IF YOU HAVE USED THE EQUATIONS OR CONCEPTS, PLEASE STATE IT CLEARLY WHICH ONE YOU HAVE YOU USED SO I COULD FULLY UNDERSTAND THE DETAILS OF THE STEPS YOU HAVE DONE.

Explain the concept of thyristor Explain about AC voltage controls, chopper and inverters Explain static V-I characteristics of thyristor Define latching current and holding current of thyristor

Explanation / Answer

latching current:

it is the minimum current required to turn on the thyristor.

holding current:

it is the current required to turn off the thyristor. i.e below which thyristor is turned off.

concept of thyristor:

1.thyristor having four layers, these layers having alternate p-type and n-type materials

2.thyristor having three terminals.these are anode, cathode and gate.

3.the outer p-type material is connected to anode, the outer n-type material is connected to cathode and inner p-type material is connected to gate terminal.

4. when the thyristor is forward biased then it is in forward blocking mode. forward biased means anode is connected to source positive plate and cathode is connected to source negative plate.

5. when anode is connected to source negative plate and cathode is connected to source positive plate, then thyristor is in reverse bias mode.

AC voltage controller: It is used to convert fixed ac voltage to variable ac voltage with out change in frequency.

chopper: it is used to convert fixed dc voltage to variable dc voltage.

inverter: it is used to convert dc voltage to ac voltage with change in frequency and magnitude of voltage.
