2 (I) Measured velocity A geophone measures an object

(I) Measured velocity A geophone measures an object's velocity as a function of time. The velocity of the deck of a suspension bridge was measured as shown in figure 2. You want to describe the position as a function of time as a cosine, x(t) = A cos(wt + phi), to compare to a measurement taken by your colleague on a different day with a different instrument. From the given displacement, give an expression in terms of A, w(omega) and phi for the instan- taneous velocity as a function of time. What is the angular frequency of the motion shown in the graph? What is the maximum velocity? What is the initial phase describing this motion in terms of a cosine displacement? What is the amplitude of the motion? What is the expression for the displacement as a function of time that corresponds to this motion? Sketch x(t) labelling the period, amplitude and correctly representing the initial phase of the motion. What is the maximum acceleration the object experiences, and at what time does this occur?
