Question
Given a signal x (n), we can create echoes and reverberations by delaying and scaling he signal as follows 5.80 k=0 where D is positive integer and gk > 8k->0. (a) Explain why the comb iter H (z) = az can be used as a reverberator (.e., as a device to produce artificial reverbera tions). (Hint: Determine and sketch its impulse response.) (b) The all-pass comb filter 2 H (z) = az is used in practice to build digital reverberators by cascading three to five such filters and properly choosing the parameters a and D. Compute and plot the impulse response of two such reverberators each obtained by cascading three sections with the following parametersExplanation / Answer
In the second case , the power series expansion can be written only if mod(az-D) < 1
i.e -1 < az-D <1
i.e -1/a < z-D < 1/a
i.e (-1/a)D < Z < (1/a)D
no such restrictions on the first method...
so h(n) wont be same for all the times.
