Question
Three positive point charges are spaced equally along the y axis (x = 0), q1 = 3.75 NC at y = +8.00 cm, q2 = 3.75 NC at y = 0, and q3 = 3.75 NC at y = -8.00 cm. P at x = 6.00 cm. Due to the symmetry in the y components of E1 and E3, this problem essentially reduced to a one dimensional problem in the x direction. What would the affect be on the y component of the totoal electric field Ey at P if the charge on q3 is increased?
a) Ey would have be unchanged
b) Ey would have a positive value
c) Ey would have a negative value
d) Need more info, Ey can't be determined
ps. Ex = 1.34 x 10^4 N/C , Ey = 0
Explanation / Answer
b) Ey would have a positive value bcoz the direction of electric field is from q3 to point p which have more magnitude than for previous values... plsz rate me ......plsz
