Question 5 0 out of 1 points The Bohr shift causes . hemoglobin to have a greater affinity for oxygen and hold on to it more tightly in your tissues hemoglobin to have a greater affinity for oxygen and hold on to it more tightly in your tissues more oxygen to be absorbed from the air hemoglobin to have a lower affinity for oxygen and release it more readily to your tissues Selected Answer: Answers: Question 6 0 out of 1 points The countercurrent exchange in fish gills ensures that (Multiple answers can be selected) Selected Answers: The partial pressure of oxygen is at an equilibrium between the fish gills and the adjacent surrounding water oxygen always moves from ish's tissues into the water as it passes over the gils oxygen always moves from the water into the fish's tissues as it passes over the gills The partial pressure of oxygen is at an equilibrium between the fish gills and the adjacent surrounding water oxygen always moves from fish's tissues into the water as it passes over the gils The partial pressure of oxygen is always greater in the surrounding water than in the adjacent fish gill oxygen always moves from the water into the fish's tissues as it passes over the gills Answers: Question 7 0 out of 1 points The lymphatic system derives its fluid from the Selected Answer: kidneys bladder capillaries arteries kidneys Answers:

Explanation / Answer

1) The bohr effect causes haemoglobin to have a lower affinity for oxygen, and release more readily to tissues. The bohr effect states that haemoglobins oxygen binding affinity is inversely proportional to to both acidity and concentration of carbonj dioxide. This effect increases the efficiency of oxygen transportaion in blood.

2) The counter current excahnge in gills of fish ensures that oxygen alwasy moves from the water to the tissues, whenit passes over the gills and the partial pressure of oxygen in surrounding water is always greater when compared to fish gills.(as movement of oxygen will only take place if there is a concentration gradient)

3) The lymphatic system derives its fluid from the capillaries. The interstitial fluid is collected from various cells of the body by the lymph capillaries.
