Left shift of the oxygen hemoglobin curve shows an increase affinity of oxygen towards hemoglobin molecule. Strenous excercise results in the production of lactic acid in the muscle cells. Production of lactic acid in muscle cells decreases the pH inside the muscle cells. Low pH value results in the increase concentration of hydrogen ion that leads to decreased affinity of hemoglobin molecule towards oxygen molecule. Decreased affinity of hemoglobin towards oxygen molecules shifts the oxygen- hemoglobin dissociation curve towards right instead of left.
