A microphone M can be moved up and down the line AB. Use v = 340.0 m/s as the speed of sound. Note that the diagram is NOT to scale.

(i) What is the distance between adjacent maxima?


(ii) What is the distance between adjacent minima?

= c/f = 340/6.800e3 = 0.05 m

y1 - y0 = L (sin1 - sin0) = 200.0 * (/d - 0) = 200*0.05/2 = 5 m

ii)

y1 - y0 = L (sin1 - sin0)

          = 200.0 * (1.5*(/d) - 0.5*(/d))

          = 200 * /d

          = 200*0.05/2

           = 5 m
