Question

please explain like i am a dummy bc this was a quiz question an i had no idea what i was doing and now it may or may not be on the next test. any pointers and tips on how to do various blocks and tension problems will greatly be appreciated

Three masses are connected is shown in Figure . The masses Of m m5t and mc are 2.00 kg. 4.00 kg. and 6.00 kg. respectively. Miss .A experiences i factional force of I0.0 N. and mass 3 experiences a frictional force of 15.0 N. Assuming the string rides without friction force the rod at the table s edge, calculate the acceleration of 'he system of masses and the tension in each of the two string segments.

Explanation / Answer

so lets sum forces for all the masses

mc g - friction at A - friction at B = (ma + mb + mc) a

6*9.81 - 10 - 15 = (2+4+6)*a
a=2.82 m/s^2

for block A

T1 - friction at A = ma a

T1 - 10 = 2*2.82

T1 = 10 + 2*2.82= 15.64 N

for block B

T2 - 15.64 - 15 = 4*2.82

T2= 41.92 N
