Question
A metal rod is free to slide without friction on two parallel metal tracks of separation L=22. The tracks are connected at one end so that they and the rod form a closed circuit as shown in Figure. The area inside the closed circuit is 330 cm2. The rod has a resistance 11 ?, and the tracks have negligible resistance. A uniform magnetic field B=2.1 T perpendicular to the plane of this circuit (out of page) is applied. Then, the magnetic field is reduced to 1.1 T in 0.01 second.(a) What is the magnitude and direction of the induced current through the rod?
Magnitude:
Direction: ---Select--- Right Left Up Down Into page Out of page
(b) In which direction does the rod move?
Direction: 3 ---Select--- Right Left Up Down Into page Out of page
Explanation / Answer
No figure uploaded. How am I supposed to specify the direction without a figure?
