Question

Two objects attract each other gravitationally with a force of 3.0 Two objects attract each other gravitationally with a force of 3.0 Two objects attract each other gravitationally with a force of 3.0 times10?10N when they are 0.65m apart. Their total mass is 5.0kg . Find their individual masses. Express your answers using one decimal place separated by a comma. I completely understand this problem. I did the quadraric equation and everything. I got 0.6 for M1and 4.4 for M2. It told me that there might have been a rounding error or used the worng number of sig figs. Help please!

Explanation / Answer

F=GM1M2/R^2

3x10^-10=6.67x10^-11(M1M2)/(0.65)^2

M1M2=1.9

M1+M2=5

Solving we get

M1=4.58 Kg

M2=0.42 Kg
