You have been asked to help evaluate a proposal to build a device to determine the speed of hockey pucks shot along the ice. The device consist of a rod which is initally at rest on the ice and is fastened to the ice at one end so that it is free to rotate horizontally. The free end of the rod has a small, light basket which will catch the hockey puck. The puck slides across the ice perpendicular to the rod and is caught in the basket which is initally at rest. The rod then rotates. The designers claim that knowing the rod length, mass of rod, mass of puck, and frenquency of the rotation of rod and puck, you can determine the speed of the pcuk as it moves across the ice.

Considerations:

   > Rod must be of light weight

> Basket must not be heavy or rough

> Basket must be of size more than that of puck

> Rod must be strong enough

Limitations:

> path of puck needs to be changed, which is not desired

> accuracy is not great

> complex measurement

> limited measurement area

> non portable

> not feasible to employ while a game is being played

Due to these large limitations, it is not feasible and good enough design
