1. Myoglobin and hemoglobin are both metalloproteins that are associated with oxygen transport in muscles and other cellular parts through blood. The iron containg heme group of both myoglobin and hemoglobin is responsible for the distinct red brown color.

The heme group is composed of a protoporphyrin complex with an iron atom in it's center. This iron group gives the distinct color.
