The free (if at all) the significance of the given initial conditions? The natural frequencies of a 2DOF linear system are given by a1,3 Hz, respectively. The was given initial displacements shown below (dashed squares in the figure) and released from vibration response is shown in the right figure. What can you say about the ratio a/b and Initial displacements of the blocks t second 5b. [3] It is expected the vibration of an orbiting satellite must possess a certain vibration What is this vibration frequency, and why?Explanation / Answer
In the above 2DOF linear system, It was clearly visible that the ratio of (a/b)> 1, which implies that when we have given the initial displacements, It compresses spring and store some energy but as soon as we release it starts delivering the stored energy to the remaining component. Also, we can be observed that there are two more springs and another mass component associated with it so while compressing the other end spring, which gets less amount of energy as compared to initial values.
So this signifies the natural frequency associated with the system. So we can say that more the amount of initial displacement a more will be the oscillation or more no of cycles we can be observed. As per the 2nd diagram amplitude vs time which represent the no. of cycles per time so x1 will be for a and x2 will be for b so accordingly when a is more b is less and slowly it comes to the rest.
