The angular motion of these components must be understood to properly design the system. To do this design, we need to relate the angular motions of contacting bodies that rotate about different fixed axes. How is this different than the analyses we did in earlier chapters?

Explanation / Answer

In the earlier design problems, the design of the bodies are independent of the others interference. But in case gears ,pulley or belt they are being used with other element, so the other element velocity, torque and power or energy that it is transferring to these elements will surely define the design of gears or pulley. So on should know upto what thrust or force a pulley or gear can withhold and where we should install it such that net thrust or force on it due to others element is less than its design value.
