Question
A set of narrow vertical slits is located a distance D from a screen. All the slits have the same width, equal to 32.5 µm. The intensity pattern in the figure is observed when light from a laser passes through the slits, illuminating them uniformly. How many slits are illuminated? I found this to be 4 and according to the computer, it is correct.
The maximum intensity observed on the screen is 1.53 W/m2. If one of the slits is covered up, what would the intensity on the screen at the center of the pattern become?
The wavelength of the laser light is 0.520 µm, and each tick mark on the intensity pattern corresponds to a distance of 1.87 cm. What is the distance to the screen?
