3. Leaf epidermal cells protect terrestrial plants as it covers whole plant body including leaves, stems, fruits etc. It is actually an outer protective layer. It also helps in gas exchange, prevent water loss etc.

The cell wall protects plant cell and made up of cellulose to provide it rigidity to stand upright but animals don't need cell wall. It gives shape to plant cells.
