Suppose you want to build a parallel plate capacitor to store this amount of energy, using a plate separation of 0.83 mm and with air filling the space between the plates.
a) Assuming that the potential difference across the capacitor is 1.5 V, what must the area of each plate be?

I know that part a is 2.834×1011 m^2 but I cant figure out part b. Help please!

Explanation / Answer

The breakdown for air is 3000 volts per mm. So part b is basically just saying to change the potential difference to V = 3000 V/mm * 0.83 mm = 2490 volts Keep the energy the same and the plate separation the same... recalculate the area (just like you did for part a) using 2490 volts instead.
