You will need the program Chimera to view
1.) Two polysaccharides that are composed exclusively of glucose residues are shown in pdb files 1c58 and 4hg6. Identify the anomeric configuration of the glucose residues in each polymer as either alpha or beta.
1c58 [alpha, beta] ?
4hg6 [alpha, beta] ?
Chimera tip: 4hg6 is the structure of a protein that has the polysaccharide bound to it. To see only the polysaccharide, go to Select -> Residue -> BGC, then Actions -> Atoms/Bonds -. show only. Hide the ribbon using Actions -> Ribbon -> hide.
2.) Examine how rigidly each residue in 1c58 and 4hg6 appears to be held by looking at inter-residue hydrogen bonds. (Tools -> Structure Analysis -> FindHBond. Based on what you observe, as well as your answer to the preceding question, determine what polysaccharide is in 4hg6.
amylopectinExplanation / Answer
Ans
1c58- alpha helix
4hg6 is - beta polymer
4hg6 has is a cellulose, polyssacharide
48 % alpha helix and 10 % beta sheet
