Question
A PVC pipe is rubbed with wool and positively charged. There are two pieces of aluminum foil that are NOT TOUCHING. The positively charged PVC pipe is brought near one side of the two pieces of foil. How will the charges be distributed in the two pieces of foil when the PVC pipe is nearby and when it isnt? Please draw.
This is my prediction....My pain question is if the charge is uniformly distributed after the PVC pipe is removed?
PVC PIPE (t) Foil A Foil B After PVC is removed.. Charge is uniformly Distributed? -t Foil A Foil BExplanation / Answer
It depends on separation of foil and size of foil
If we sperate the both foil far away then it will arrange the charge in uniform structure due to electrostatic force between free charges .
But if we keep the both foil near to each other then opposite charge on different foil will attract each other and charge will be on surface (positive on one surface and negative on other)
