My Notes Ask Your Teach A 60.0-g object connected to a spring with a force constant of 40.0 N/m oscillates with an amplitude of 6.00 cm on a frictionless, horizontal surface. (a) Find the total energy of the system. 72 (b) Find the speed of the object when its position is 1.10 cm. (Let 0 cm be the position of equilibrium.) m/s (c) Find the kinetic energy when its position is 3.50 cm. mJ (d) Find the potential energy when its position is 3.50 cm. mj Need Help?adWatch NExplanation / Answer
Solution :-
Part A)
E = .5kA2
E = (.5)(40)(.06)2
E = .072 J
That is 72 mJ
Part B)
.072 = .5kx2 + .5mv2
.072 = (.5)(40)(.011)2 + (.5)(.060)(v2)
v = 1.523 m/s
Part C)
.072= .5kx2 + KE
.072 = (.5)(40)(.035)2 + KE
KE = .0475 J
That is 47.5 mJ
Part D)
72 - 47.5 = 24.5 mj
