Question

427. In the illustration, the smaller air-core solenoid (coil of wire) on the left is inserted into the larger air-core solenoid on the right without allowing any of the connecting wires to touch. The larger solenoid is connected to a battery, but the smaller solenoid is connected only to an ammeter to reacd the current in the smaller solenoid. After the smaller solenoid is inside the larger one, the current is turned on. There is a quick reading on the ammeter, but the reading goes to zero. To maintain a reading on the ammeter, which of the following actions would be effective? Reconnect the larger solenoid to an alternating current (AC) power supply. Move both solenoids to the right and keep them moving to the right at the same speed (A) (B)

Explanation / Answer

answer will be option a i.e. reconnect the larger solenoid to an alternating current(AC) power supply. becuse due to larger solinoid there will be generated a magnetic field.and when the smaller solinoide is moving a change of magnetic field with respect to time occers.so reading has shown on the ammeter.but when it is in the large one it is goes to zero becouse now there is no change of magnetic field.

but when we connect the large one with AC there will be a change of direction of electric current so magnetic field will change also with time and a current will generated in the small one.
