Explanation / Answer

(A) W = m g = 0.042 x 9.8 = 0.412 N

(B) _apparnet = (3.5 x 10^-2)(9.8) = 0.343 N


(C) Buoyant force, Fb = 0.412 - 0.343

= 0.069 N  

and Fb = rho V g

0.069 = 1000 V (9.8)

V = 7.04 x 10^-6 m^3


(D) density = m / V

= (0.042)/(7.04 x 10^-6)

= 5965 kg /m^3
