Question

e transformer consisting of two coils of wire wound around an iron ring. The coil on the left is connected to a battery and a switch. Assuming a current of I flows in the left coil when the switch is closed, what is likeliest to occur in the right coil? A current 5/ flows, but only for a moment. O A current 5/ flows continuously so long as the switch is closed. O A current /flows continuously so long as the switch is closed. O A current l5 flows continuously so long as the switch is closed. O A current I/5 flows, but only for a moment. A current I flows, but only for a moment.

Explanation / Answer

Answer.

A current I flows, but only for a moment.

Explanation:

Current will flow through right coil only if there is a changing magnetic flux through it.

Now as switch is closed current increases from 0 to I in left coil this change in current leads to change in magnetic flux linked to right coil.As the current becomes almost steady in short moment so current flow through right coil is only for short moment.

Also as both coils have same number of turns so same current flows through both.
