Question
e solution worth 27 pts. Lien below using the RIDEA framework Problem 1 Aring 0.50 m in radius carries a charge of +2. n uniformly distributed over it. A point charge Q--36. nC is v placed at the center of the ring, The electric field is equal to o zero at a field point P, which is on the axis of the ring, Find the distance (in meters) between the center of the ring and point P 1) Represent the problem in terms of symbols and diagrams 2) Interpret the problem by identifying applicable concepts and principles Inn a plan for solving the problemExplanation / Answer
We have to equate the magnitude of both the electric fileds, that is
Field due to ring= field dur to point charge.
Let the distance be x meters
Now we know that, field due to ring is
Ering=KQx/(r2+x2)1.5
=72x/(0.52+x2)1.5
Now, field due to point charge,
Echarge=KQ/x2
=36/x2
So
36/x2=72x/(0.52+x2)1.5
2x3=(0.52+x2)1.5
4x6=(0.52+x2)3
x=50.77m
