Question

Figure 1 Kirchhoffs Rules: 2. Set up the circuit shown in figure 2 (resistors i supply is 3 (V n series). Suggested voltage from power ) throughout the experiment, Note: make sure that "4" terminal of ammeter connected to" terminal of the power supply. Write down the ammeter reading in able 2. d)41 R2 R3 R3 Figure 3 Figure 2 Using digital multimeter, measure the voltage across R2 and Rs, write down this data in table 3. Perform the calculations in table 3 and compare the sum of voltages across R2 and R3 with the voltage from the power supply CAUTION: Ammeter will blow up if connected directly across the power source, therefore, it MUST BEIN SERIES WITHA RESISTOR!! Ruiningan ammeter is EXPENSIVE!!

Explanation / Answer

From table 2, current through R2 = Current Through R3 = 0.16A

From table 3, VR2 +VR3 = 2.94 V

The series resistance = total voltage /total current = 2.94/0.16 = 18.375 ohms

From table 4, Total current through R2 and R3 = 0.8 A

Voltage across R2 and R3 = 3V

Theparallel resistance = Voltage across both the resistances/total current = 3/0.8 = 3.75 ohms
